About me
My name is Andrii Frolov. I have cerebral palsy and a Group I disability (the most severe category in Ukraine). I work as a freelance programmer.
How we got our home
In 2015, when I started a family, I sold my car, added a little more, and bought a house in Nikopol that needed renovation. The work went on until 2020: insulation, roof, facade.
My son was born while we lived in this house and spent his first three years there.
"The Cheerful Garbage Collector"
At the same time our family started a charity project called «Веселий сміттяр» ("The Cheerful Garbage Collector"). We collected plastic and waste paper, sold it for recycling, and donated the money to the charity foundation "For the Children of Nikopol". Altogether we raised UAH 120,000 from recycling to help children.
The war
- February 2022The full-scale war began. We had to leave our home behind.
- 2023With no sign of when the war would end, I took out loans and bought an old house in another region. It needs insulation and a new roof — everything I had already done once in Nikopol.
- April 2026We were sent photos and told the house had been hit twice. With it went my hope of selling it after the war and paying off the loans, not to mention everything else we lost.
Where things stand
I have applied to state programs. What they offer is to repair the house in Nikopol. Unfortunately, there is nothing left to repair, and the city is still being shelled. It is simply not realistic.
I am asking for help
Any support, advice, or a contact at a foundation that helps with housing means a great deal to us.
